I hatched this beauty from an egg and it hatched about the first of May. I know that it is a mixed breed bird so am not looking for a breed. I would really like to know if it's a rooster. The comb is small for a rooster. Does anyone know what gender this chicken is?

I locked down 27 eggs. I've been candling but not too carefully. I candled again at 20 days and removed 2 that we're obviously dead. I was left with 11 eggs that didn't hatch. I didn't candle them, but in the future I would.
I am hatching birds of various origins. I hatched 14 out of an original 37 eggs. Many were clear and some died in the process. My neighbor is happy with what she gets but I think I should do better.

How long have you had your incubator? I too had about 50 percent hatch rate on my first two hatches. I'm glad I discovered that the thermometer I was going by was faulty.
