I’m no expert at all but I wouldn’t put the chicken down. I have one that was attacked by something and her whole side is raw. I bathed her in warm water, blow dried what I couldn’t towel dry and put neosporin on her. I have her in a dog kennel in the house and she is actually looking pretty...
Thank you - you have it all accurate - I’m glad her spirits are good. She was back with the flock for about 2 weeks when the 2nd attack happened - the chickens seemed to accept her back. I never saw them pecking at her.
The lame hen seemed to really like the soaking in warm water and blow dried and then neosporin - her appetite is good and she drinking ok. She is still limping on that side.
The one not eating and drinking is the one I’m worried about now.

We have 27 birds - a silkie, bantams, Rhode Island reds and some black ones and light brown ones that I always forget their breed name. I just bought a place in the country 15 months ago so I have a lot to learn!!
