Yes can you imagine the trauma she went through falling out of a truck going full speed? Also non nurturing humans all she's known? She's got to be confused and very fearful. Sad.
I'm with you m'am. Imagine yourself in that little chicken body and brain. How would you want those giant humans to treat you? I pray you'll give her some love and pleasure the little time she may have! Godspeed to you both💕🙏
Mine don't eat the straw but they love to nest/burrow into it! Reportedly it is a superior insulator due to the diameter of its shaft/retains air. I put bales of it around the inner perimeter of the coop and hills of it where they hang out and in their nesting boxes. They seemingly like it lots!
I feel its crucial to get them thru this arctic cold first; help with parasites when warmer. If u were freezing to death u wouldn't give a _____ about a mite on you. Lol.❤🐓🐔❄
How about you get him a nice warm apron/sweater whatever they call them, to help him hold in heat? Also fill that place with straw, A fabulous insulator. (Of course, no straw near a heater.
Yes I clean poops daily too. So easy with a metal saled tong every morning with a bucket. I put newspapers under their perches every bedtime for ease cleanup in morning. Never ammonia or stinky smell.
I have radiant heaters over their perches. The rooster especially likes them! Lol.

Well here in NH, across the pond, I took their stool to my avian vet and they looked at it under microscope and prescribed me the appropriate med and in correct doses for my two sizes of chooks. I felt it was worth the cost since not all worm meds in store will be effective against all worms...
In so. NH our forecasted temp us 83 today. We have been in mid 70s last few days, yet jus a week ago we were 94 and humid!
I go from running 3 fans for the chooks to closing their window and putting up their plastic sheeting thing at coop door at night against cold. Nights this week 55.
No to diatomaceous earth according to the article above! Its a carcinogen to both chooks and humans, lung, and reportedly doesnt work. Theres a list in the article which products work and she highly encourages constant access to sand for dust baths. I have 2 bins in my big run so even in the...
