Yeah, it is so cool to get that first egg. After a while you will be able to tell which one laid it. I only had 6 chickens but was able to tell. Here's to many more.
Well, I had 6 chickens and a boxer that was 6 years old and a poodle that was 13 years old and my sons dog that was a small dog that was a hunting type. When I got my baby chicks I had them in a my dinning room in a tall box with small places for them to peak out of and the dogs loved watching...
She was not a sex link. I will have to check on my other ladies as I didn't see any illness. I am new at this and this is my first loss. Thank you so much for a heads up on what to look for in the rest.
My chicken was having a gritty eggs for two days and then we found her dead yesterday. Don't know what happened. They get top feed for layers. Any answer for what could have happened? Hope your lady gets better. Mine was just 2 years old.
Hi, I have a young hen that has a cracked beak across the middle of her beak also and I have just left it along as she also is eating and drinking ok. I did do the mush thing and they all like it but she still needs the chick food. I will get the crumble when I go to the feed store. As for...
Thank you tinakevin, I don't have a bottom on the coop but it is in with the run or pen. I put her in the old one and she was fine for a while and then got very upset so I let her out. I closed the door to the coop as all my hens had laid their eggs and she kept trying to get in but for most...
I have another coop that is the first one that they were in, still in their pen. I could use that and close her up and away from the other hens. I live in the city and we can only have 4 chickens and I can't have a rooster. My chickens have been sleeping on the ground sense we have had them...
My Mindy has been keeping to the nest for about 3 days now and has been puffing up with me but is gentle. I took her out this evening and held her and she would shake until I started talking to her. I put her down and she just sit there and I put her back in the coop. I am new to this at 6...
Hello from Arlington, Texas. Can not wait for September 1st. We do not live in a HOA area (well, it has one but not a working one). Love my ladies. Hope all the people that live in HOA's are able to have their chickens also. It depends on the size of your land on how many you can have here...
Hi, I have reading through these threads and love it. I was just wondering how much ACV you would put for a gallon of water for your chickens? I am all for natural ways of
curing or preventing things before they happen.
I was going to put lavender around the run as it will keep some bugs out. Thank you for the info. Just read that it is great for keeping flies away also. Will let you know.
Any organic virgin coconut oil will work. I get mine from Sprouts. A lady told me to get the ones that are the product of Philippines. Hope this helps.
