We just bought a small chipper and it makes great mulch out of our crabapple branches.
But what I am wondering, is if I could mulch a bunch of dry spruce branches to this size as well and use it for bedding in the coop, before it goes to a compost pile?
They still have the needles on them...

I just got my first two pullets and they don't touch them. I watched a few running all over the side of the run and they didn't even peck at it. They will crazily chase a fly though, so I don't know what the deal is. From what I've read, some love them, some don't bother.
