What did you have the temp on with the Still??
I do not understand temperature with the still and could use help. I had it 98.5 at the bottom and approaching 102 at the top of the eggs. I did notice the temperature went down for a while at hatch to 97 or 98 at the bottom so this could have...
I run humidity at 75 or 80 at hatch. Seems to be good usually. I did not check it on Saturday as i did not want to open the bator no the day the eggs did not make it. So not sure. I will find a way to position my meter where I can see it next time. What do you think is ideal??
Two difficult hatches. But, could be worse. I had 13 eggs hatching last weekend, and lost three. I read here where people lose all and that is heartbreaking.
The two I lost at hatch- I tried to help out when it seemed they were ready and no blood, but I did get a drop of blood and waited...
For my next hatch, I will move the eggs around and make sure they are in different parts of the bator. I have to turn them anyway. I prefer the hand turned with pencil marks so I make sure they all get turned.
Thanks. I have a small incubator that circulate air. I did have them divided on the two sides so I could easily keep track. It could be that perhaps.
My eggs were Ameraucana and the others were EEs. I wonder if it could be related to breed.Just don't know. Will see tomorrow how it looks
Hatching puzzle I could use some help with.Today is day 21. Half the eggs in my incubator are mine and 1/2 a friends. Hers hatched out easy and started at day 20. All in brooder now. Mine are still working at it very slowly. I just have pipping in 5 of 6 chicks and it has taken all day, and...
What are the differences between the two. When I got mine, I was told they are a cross of the two and the first line was weak with immunity issues? I want to get more Isbars and it would be helpful to know more about this subject.
When I first got chickens, I just purchased hens and bought my eating chickens at the store. Once into chickens, I found out about the disposal of the extra roosters that the hatcheries have to contend with. Wanting rare breeds, I also started hatching, and ended up with too many roosters to...
I went to a livestock fair today and the barred rocks were gorgeous. So dark and distinct black and white. I have a hatchery barred rock I got last summer. Sweet as can be, but she looks nothing like the gorgeous ones I saw today. She is more gray with lighter barring.
I have only see...
Here is Izzy - my only isbar. I ordered orpington eggs and she was part of the package. I had not planned to get Isbars and did not know much about them.
She is hanging with her egg-mates here. I just love her. Soft, gentle, friendly, quiet, and sweet. I want more isbars. Next summer...
. I have read that starting them on layer food too soon can have them laying earlier, but it is not good for them because of an excess of calcium. I have friends who feed all their birds layer food and just grind it for the babies. There chickens seem to lay earlier than mine.
I do what is...
