True that. However most folks buy day old chicks, since started pullets are a bit pricey. I knew a woman once bought 4 chickens and paid more for those 4, than I did for 25 chicks. In fact, I don't consider started pullets to be chicks since they are already near laying age.

A lot of hatcheries offer beak trimming. I didn't take such, but I'm sure some has...

Housing a feral cat inside the chicken run for rodent control?

Not a good idea. Cats will kill rabbits, squirrels and other game. No doubt they will kill chickens, if they are smaller types....

I've ordered from them twice. Black Jersey Giants(as big as buzzards around 15 months) and another time, White Rocks which got pretty big. They both laid pretty good, too. I've no complaints with them.

    WARNING: Hoovers hatchery

I ordered California Whites from them years ago(Spring time) and they all arrived alive and well. They grew up and produced plenty of eggs. Most hen houses are nothing but rectangular boxes...

    WARNING: Cackle Hatchery

It's a shipping issue for Cackle for sure. I can get live chicks from Hoover(Iowa), yet can't get live chicks from Cackle(Missouri) and my order somehow was in Denver, Colorado(where somebody adopted my order), yet I live in Ohio.

It is a shipping issue. I can get live chicks from Hoover(Iowa), but somehow I couldn't get live chicks from Cackle(in fact, somehow they ended up in DENVER) and I live in Ohio!
