I have two 26 week old Rhode Island Reds and one 26 week old Easter Egger that still haven't laid yet. With our short days in Michigan now I'm worried I won't get eggs til spring.
My chickens are 15 weeks old and I have blocked off their access to the nesting boxes since they've been in the coop. When should I (1) expect eggs and (2) open up the access to the nesting boxes? Thanks!
My hens go wild for cucumbers and zuchini. I just slice them in half the long way and they peck away happily. They also love any kind of melon, sunflower seeds, and clover. I try to give them vegetable scraps or sunflowers 5 or 6 days per week.

I had this problem with both their water and food. Either they spilled it all over the place or filled with pine shavings. Yesterday I hung them both by a chain in their coop and now the feeder/waterer sit about chest level and so far they have stopped doing it.
