Hello all! This may be a bit unusual so i'll do my best to post photos and give as much context as I can! (Sorry in advance for the long read)
The town I live in has a bunch of free roam chickens, and I mean they're everywhere... in neighborhoods, movie theater parking lots, drive thru's...
I don't know if anyone will see this but I wanted to post an update on the chick!
It's doing very well now, the first couple of days were iffy and I found another bite mark but after giving it some love and time it perked up and is fully healed now!
Thank you to everyone who gave me advice...
I went to the store earlier and bought some Triple Antibiotic Ointment and put it on her, she's still alive thankfully and has seemingly stopped gasping but I won't get my hopes up, she drank some more water and is sleeping now; Thank you all again for the information and I'll make sure to...
I see, thank you all for the help anyways, I'll do my best to be here for her and I'll just have to hope for the best and prepare for the worst.
I've already lost one chick this morning so it'd be terrible to lose another in the same day but in the end, whatever happens, happens.
I put some peroxide on it and it bubbled but I tried again with soapy water and it did bubble up, I wasn't able to really do it for more than a couple of seconds though because she immediately started puking.
Thank you for responding so quickly, I've checked every inch of her and there's nothing besides the wound, (I'll attach an image) and I can't hear any air coming out, though it might be a bit hard to with her sneezing.
Edit: After looking over her again a couple of more times I found another...
Hey everyone! Last night I heard a commotion and one of the little chicks I had been feeding and somewhat looking after was grabbed by a cat, I chased it for about a block or two before it finally gave up and I took her back home. This morning she seemed to still be in shock, I put her outside...
That story warmed my heart, when I realized I had to get rid of the two I just sat there with them crying for a good while, they already made their way into my heart and I wanted to keep them in my family.
This gave me a better outlook though so thank you, I'll try my absolute best to give them...
The rooster is very nice actually which surprised me after reading about the mood changes, he very rarely pecks you and it'll usually only be because you're wearing jewelry he finds attractive or if you annoy him constantly. He definitely doesn't go out of his way to attack and he's pretty chill...
Hello! I currently own two silkie bantams, one white rooster and a black hen.
Very sadly I am no longer able to keep them due to family issues and I need to re-home them as soon as possible.
I've tried asking friends and family but I can't find anyone to take them in a pair, they've grown up...
