How would you breed a barred bearded chicken?

Apparently there's a few choices to get Olive Eggers: https://www.backyardchickens.com/articles/easter-eggers-barred-black-olive-eggers.47247/ If you wanted to be sure to get the blue gene, choose a EE rooster that carries two copies of the blue gene. If you want blue eggs instead of green...

    Large Fowl Cochins

I'm new to Cochins, I got five chicks from a breeder, got three Blues, one Splash and one Black. Any opinions on this Blue? Sorbet here looks great to my eye, but I'm biased. ;) 11 weeks old. Also, any opinions on if it's a cockerel or a pullet?

    Drawing/paintings of chickens/other fowl!

Inktober day 5 was "chicken", so of course I had to draw one of mine. This is Vivienne, who wasn't nearly as cranky as she looks here.

Thanks! She's my favorite too, and the coloring on her is a lot more subtle/varied than it looks in the photo.

So I've found a new obsession, and it's called lampworking (the technique of making glass beads with a rod of colored glass and fire) So what do I end up making? Chickens! A cute little pullet A roosting Brahma hen And a "buffalo chicken" ;)

    Easter Egger club!

Hope isn't completely lost for its case even if it is a cornish cross. Part of the reason they die so quickly is that they're fed up to their limit to make them grow as fast as possible. If you're not packing pounds onto it, (which puts strain on the heart and bones) then it may actually live...

The upside is that Brahmas are usually very sweet, and those feathery feet are a riot, especially when they're all grown up huge.

What to do with all these chicken feathers?? (craft ideas??)

I made a steampunk style tophat out of leather and was looking for ornaments to put on it. Found a wooden bead with a big hole and arranged some of my EE feathers in it, perfect!

So sorry to hear that, sometimes these things just happen. You know you tried your best, and she was cared for right up until the end.

    Easter Egger club!

So my teeny peeps have gotten much bigger since I last posted! They're still peeping for the most part (although one or two of them make pathetic honking noises instead of clucking when upset over something) and a couple of nights ago I started putting them in the coop with the big girls. They...

In most cases, yes the offspring must resemble the parents except in cases where that's not possible, like "blue" genetics where a splash and black will make a mix of blue and black offspring (and some breed registries don't accept blue as an accepted color just for that reason). Breeding and...
