I treated for mites about a month ago and got rid of all of them. They have always roosted andit just confuses me why they stopped now. I'm going to go do a complete inspection before the day is over. This bugs me.
I've used the search feature with no luck.
All of a sudden all of our chickens want to lay on the coop floor instead of roosting. I'm not too worried about it, just curious about it. No other weird behaviors besides they come out of the coop in the middle of the night for no reason.
We gave a dozen of her eggs to a friend of ours to hatch out and said we'd take one hen after they were feathered out. One hatched. We know they were fertile.
I added a light to my coop after my chickens stopped laying. The light has been in there for about 10 days and left on a few hours before dawn and 2 hours after dusk. How long does it take for them start laying again?
That's my problem too. We are in the process of converting my shed into a chicken house. I heard if you just pack it full of straw and out of the wind it will keep them warm. I don't know if I believe that or want to take the chance.
These Americana mixes are confusing me. Anyone want to help?
There are 2 different birds besides the 2nd picture which the one to the left is the one in question.
