This is the Genisis Hova Bator, 1588 model. It is pre-set and very accurate, so no need to hassle with getting the temp. set correctly. I have always had good hatches with this incubator and you can't get any easier than this one. It comes with the auto turner and the hygrometer/thermometer...
I would personally let them hatch out in the incubator and if you'd like to see if your hen will raise them, try popping them in underneath her after they hatch. Just be sure she is good and brood before trying that one.
I'm not saying that the feathering trick is 100% certain, I'm just saying that is that just seems to be how things have worked here and since the chicks came from my line, there's a good chance of it working that way for you too. It could very well be that the slower feathering ones still end...
B/B/S Orpingtons are the hardest to sex early on, unless they are buffs. Buffs do seem to show combs early on. The two cockerels that I have over my girls right now completely fooled me! I didn't know they were cockerels until they were 20 + weeks old! I should have been able to tell by...
Hatching time is here again and my girls are ready and laying!

You will get 12 eggs + extras...
If they are moving around, eating and drinking, and otherwise acting normal, they are fine! Once the feathers start growing in, they do start looking ragged. They go through an ugly stage for a short period, but it doesn't last long. I'm sure what you are seeing is totally normal.

aww thanks-anytime!!! TRADE??? hahah- Im so sorry about that accident! I hate that when things like that happens . I have all splits---a few pure blacks but they are too young to breed at this point-growing them out...BUT you will get pure blacks from these guys too. I will...
They are so cute and beautiful, all at the same time!
I am going to have to hook up with you at one point and get some eggs. I can't do it now, but have promised my daughter another silkie. Her's was killed in a freakish accident 3 weeks ago and has been missed every since. Are the...
Yep, she will act mama and still sit until the eggs are finished hatching so leave her be. She will know when her hatch is finished and quit sitting.
Congrats on your Easter chicks! It looks like they are well loved!
