They’re both supposed to be females from McMurrays so I just never questioned it until I was hanging out with them earlier. They’re both 22 weeks, a light Brahma and Easter egger (ameraucana on mcmurrays) I added some photos of for sure hens to compare
The highs&lows show if you click on the picture.
They’re 7 weeks and they’re off for the majority of the day except for a couple cold nights we’ve had since they’re in the garage and it gets pretty cold out there. No on the heat lamp👍 would a space heater on just the nights it’s in the 20s be...
Ok so my 16 chicks are definitely too big for the brooder now, but the 4 Brahmas I have aren’t 100% feathered… I would say around 95%, they still have down on their backs. The other 12 are fully feathered so I’m not too worried but these are the temps coming up, I’m wondering if it’s even too...
The wood is still damp in the pic but that’s how they all look.. That’s as clean as I could get with 50/50 water & cleaning vinegar and a crappy brush. I’m gonna pick up a better brush at the store and go at them again
If I were to paint them is there a preferred paint type? Is normal exterior...
I’m wondering what would be best to clean wood nest boxes? I was thinking maybe a vinegar/water mix would be good but wanted to make sure it would be safe, my chickens won’t be in there for another 2 weeks or so. The previous owners of my house left all the straw and nasties in the nest boxes 😖...
Ooh ok that makes sense I suppose :p the video definitely looks like the ones I got, super crazy how dark they can be and still end up white. Thank you so much for the help and calling about those codes.
So I ordered an array of chicks from McMurray hatchery, 4 of them being light Brahmas and they were the only feather footed chicks I got but I’m a bit confused by their coloring because they seem pretty dark compared to pictures I’ve seen of other light Brahma chicks. All help much appreciated :)
The breeds are known now. I wasn’t aware of the disease which is my bad for lack of research, I will definitely be looking into it and into testing. I am quite bonded with them however if the testing isn’t an option for me I will definitely rehome to keep others safe. And yes chickens are...
It’s gonna be an SUV.
I will try to rehome one of them, but in the case I can’t in time would 2 cardboard boxes with holes work? 3 in one box 4 in the other. They seem to stay in that type of grouping even in the coop now. I’ll make sure to get Corid too. Thanks to all for the help.
So I am going to be moving from CA to CO soon, it’s about a 20-22 hour drive. My main question is would it be safe to have all of them (2 roosters, 5 hens) in a 42” dog crate or if I should separate them into smaller groups, they will probably be around 3 months at the time so they won’t be too...
Here’s them side by side. There’s 2 of the more grayish/blue ones and they’re a bit bigger than the black one. Their head spots aren’t very prominent like all the barred rock chick pictures I’ve seen. Thank you to everyone for all the help ☺️
I have 7 chicks I got from TSC and I was told 3 of them are Blue Laced Barnevelders but after looking at chick pictures online I’m starting to question if they are actually the breed I was told? They’re about 11 days old. All help much appreciated 😁
Hi, I’m a first time chicken owner and I’ve noticed today some of these poops that have me worried, there is also normal poop. There’s 7 chicks, they’re 10/11 days olds and they’re all very lively and eating MannaPro medicated and drinking frequently. Thank you for any help.
