    El Cheapo 60's airstream update...pics

Turnkey31, Show us some photos of before and after! I love to see an artist at work... Recycling is the name of the game. Myself, growing up in the 70's, I remember it was a disposable world. Now I see the value in utilizing items instead of sending them to the burn pile. Good luck on your...

    El Cheapo 60's airstream update...pics

Yes,yes, yes We are well aware what a restored 1962 Airstream is worth. I only paid 1500 bones for the whole shcmoozle though! My chick chicks would much rather hang out in this warm and cozy thing in a blustery South Dakota winter than a stick built squarish thignamaboob. Wouldn't you?

Oh yeah, we hang out with the birds every evening and tip a few brewhaha's. Nothing like live entertainment...so much better than TV. So far we have only about $1700 into the whole schmoozle(I traded an old Yamaha motorcycle($1500) for the camper) and it most likely will last another 48 years.

    El Cheapo 60's airstream update...pics

Hello World... In keeping with the El Cheapo tradition here are a few ideas for cheap construction. The roosts are cedar branches from prunings around our property. The nest boxes are all freebies, the old Roberts Dairy milk box, and the used drawers from an old dresser. Our 26 Silver Laced...

    How cold can they stand?

We are on our fourth South Dakota winter with chickens. As the other have said, keep various perches available for them to roost and hang out on. They will sit where they are most comfortable. Drafts need to be eliminated and at the same time have steady ventilation. I use natural...

Moving a 12x60 mobile home to become a coop???

For us, using the trailer was a no-brainer. We scored the rig for a cool 1500 bones. It was destined to be our guest house for the property. Then I started doing the math on what it would cost to build a decent size coop that would last 30 years, and I came up with about 2500. I will be moving...

Only have these roosts are finished so far. Have to go to sea tomorrow for a month, then will work on the nest boxes and other inside goodies. The floor most likely will get a covering of linoleum. Cheers, Gypsea

I closed it up because there is a hole in the belly skin that the dogs were getting up into looking for mice. They were getting old nasty fiberglass in their fur and eyes.

TeamChaos, Those BeeLines are a really sturdy little unit. How many birds do you keep in it? Yes, the trailer can be moved around if need be. I put a skirt all the way around ours to keep the birds and our dogs from getting underneath. Yes, little Billie just digs the chicks. She gets in...

Thanks...it really was a fun project. The main posts for the run were the toughest, they are all bored down 3 feet. All of the wood used here with the exception of the run border was taken from around the property. Along the Big Sioux River bluff here, we have thousands of the eastern red...
