I have red sex and red x layers and my rooster is a red sex. We got one chick yesterday and I think it's a female because of the red on it's head. We have more we are waiting on and I was just thinking.....what if we get a cockerel? We want pullets not cockerels, I mean no disrespect...

Thanks for the info. I'll play it by ear and watch her. I have a few silkie chickens and several are broody mamas, so maybe I'll try another hen. I did google how to sex a chick, and I see that you have to look at the wings. The ones that have feathers all the same length are the roosters...
