Hi there! So sorry to hear about your hen :( is it currently freezing where you are? I ask because it might be frost bite, especially if there’s no movement.
My vote is the Ameraucana is on the left! That’s based solely on the only difference I can see between the two-the combs. The low profile of the comb on the bird on the left looks like the slow development of a pea comb whereas the one on the right looks slightly more developed and maybe...
oh my goodness, the instant hush that fell over them when you put the heater back into the brooder. SWOON! I've been trying my hardest to hold off on hatching until I get more eggs, so I'm living vicariously through you
That seems pretty high to me—which I'm grateful for! Though anti-depressants have helped flatted those moments of heightened emotion for me too—which I'm grateful for as well ◡̈

She’s bred her Barnies to be a bit smaller than the standard, which made me wonder if maybe that affected health? Otherwise I do recommend them!
I was just about to ask where you got your barnevelders from because I als ordered barnevelders last year and both died from what I can only describe as failure to thrive :/ it made me wonder if the breed was more susceptible to health issues
I’ll sell unsexed chicks which helps me narrow down large hatches, and I’ve started processing my own cockerels! Like a few others said, people in my local area facebook groups have a hard time giving away their roosters. I’ll raise them until they get to a good harvest size or they start...
