Hi All,
Necropsy results is back and Marek's is confirmed.
It was still shocking to us as she acted so normal until 7 days prior, normal feeding behavior, poos, egg laying seemed regular. We observe our small flock fairly closely and they are pretty spoiled in terms of access, cleanliness, and...
Give her the best support you can. Sometimes we may never know (until necropsy).
I read some do survive Mareks so there is hope even it is the case. Every chicken is different. Try cooked eggs, yogurt, meal worm, etc. Fermented grains/legumes/feeds are also good stuff. Even just soaked for a...
In our case from onset of symptoms only 1 week so was very fast. Hopefully your hen doesn't have it or it can be managed.
I assume you have read this already? Maybe try the alternative meds St. Johns Wort etc.

Sorry to hear. Buttercup is quite a pet for us so we would have done anything we can to save her. The onset was very sudden. Since we had a flock of three we have close eyes on them all the time. She just went through molting and came back to lay about 3 weeks ago, seemed happy and all. It is...
Thank you all so very much! Really appreciated your advice. Glad I came and have the vet put her down. She was a very sweet lady.
We will have to watch the rest of the flock (2 ladies) for symptoms now.
Thank you!
I am here at the vet. She doesn't think there is any broken leg and she suspect Marreks as well. I am debating to euthanize her here or cull her at home
Thank you guys. Miraculously she just stood up and ate a bit of eggs. She is in a box now and I am going for my late appointment. please pray for us ....
NOT good. i got the box ready to go but Buttercup is doing poorly today.
I am deciding against driving across town to the vet
The egg gave me false hope yesterday.
She was okay in the morning albeit not eating much. She even had some normal looking poos. 1 hour ago was more or less normal...
Took a two hour lunch break again today to see her. She ate very little, only meal worms and soaked split peas, nothing else not even eggs or cooked rice with yogurt. She was particularly chatty however, which was not the case for the past few days confined in the box. We found her egg in the...
Could this be a sudden onset of Marek's? She is eating too little. Her poos are dark green and on the loose side. Her combs are still red and there is no labored breathing, but the toes of "injured" leg are curled. The "injured" leg is dragging behind, not spreading forward.
Thank you! Will try the wet feed later. We tried all the goodies, bread or cooked rice soaked in yogurt, smashed hard boiled eggs, chopped up tomatoes and kale, cat food, etc. She prefers freeze dried meal worm than anything else. She will eat a little bit of this and that, just not enough...
