Forgot to post a pic of the new baby. 4 & 1/2 month our Ameraucana. Her name is Hollandaise, but we call her Holly. She's not real sure about things yet. Sweet as pie - loves to be held, but nervous still around the other hens.
Hope finally laid her first egg! Today is already a 3 out of 5 day & one is mounting so we may or may not get one from her. She has laid a few since starting to mount though. Maybe we will actually start getting 5 out of 5 soon???
We've ha such nice weather up until this past weekend. Yuck. It was windy and chilly. Still chilly. Ready for nicer days! A couple if weeks ago we hit 90 for goodness sake!!
We are getting 3 a day pretty consistently now. I'll be happy when all 5 are laying daily!! Went home at lunch at the girl got a snack of bread, raisins, and celery. One blue-green egg in the box. My BR's tend to lay a little later than what I am able to get home for lunch. Lucy is laying...
So the little hens are crazy. The big girls have been using the nesting boxes like they should & suddenly the little girls stopped laying, or so I THOUGHT! Yesterday I couldn't find Tori & I was freaking out! Then, I saw an eye peeping out at me from the feeder!!! She was inside it with 2...

Mine HATED the dummy eggs. They kicked them out of the boxes into the coop. We put them back. They kicked them out of the boxes, down the ramp, and out to the furthest possible corner of the ramp. Crazy girls.
You are right. It was a smaller egg, but still wonderful. The yolk was very rich. I gave her extra protein this week. I took a can of tuna, a raw egg, and some grated cheese & mixed it up with some crushed ice (it was hot outside). She scarfed it up & 2 days later I had this egg. I'm going...
These are from our 18 month olds. The small one is from the one that is moulting. Our blue ones are about the size of the small brown one - they are laid by our almost 6 month olds.
So yesterday I went home to check on the hens at lunch and Naughty Margaret and Lucy were fighting over one of the nesting boxes. Lucy is molting so I thought she was just being mean.
Came back later on to find this in the previously empty box!
We didn't have any blue eggs yesterday but we...
