Hi, I have seen them before, if they are indeed gummy, but mine are usually "curled up" in a ball. I know because when I got two, I cut them open! Weird stuff, man.
Thank you I figured that was the case I have one BR that hasn't layed for a year, I believe the other is doing the same! The girls will be three this spring so... just wish someone else would put a shell on her egg also! Yuck!
Don't know if this was layed or regugitated! Their where two on the poop board this AM!?
I cut it open after I took this picture and it looked like ventricules inside and is soft and sluffy! Not sure which bird it is!
Something I found on the poop board this AM , "besides poop" there were two one smaller then the other after I took this pic. I thought after I took the picks to cut it open it was like a eggroll inside with almost ventricles?
Don't feel bad you where doing what you thought an "expert" would do. I have had one of my Astrolorps go broody twice a year for three years, she's almost broken me and she's the most skidish!
I would make sure he is dry and comfortable, if you have to bring her inside or the garage, I have...

Thanks fishnet,
Just called my little local farmsupply (we are all wine here) and they have it! Did you clean the wound good and with what? I read to throw everything you could at it, ie: rubbing alchohol peroxide and make sure all of the maggots are gone and then bring her inside so no...
I have read through past posts and have a good ideas from that but that was in 09! Does anyone have a better way now.
This hen was found with a half dollar sore (maybe bigger now ) last night with maggots in it. I cleaned it with soap & water tried getting the maggots out put antibatierical...
Hello I noticed your post since my hen is doing the same thing. She is also 2 yrs old and laying the same soft tipped egg for about two month now. She is a Barred Rock and is not doubt the lazyest on the nest. The rest are eating them because when she drops it probably breaks a bit and then...
My BR has been moulting for a good 4 months now maybe longer. Her eggs have become really brittle, should I be giving her more protein. Maybe some catfood. I give them all really great yogurt about twice a week, oyster shell, She just looks like crap!
