Dont use heat lamps unless its inside your house as you raise chicks and are monitoring the lamp.

Open air near the top of the coop. Drafts are large openings near the base of your coop like an open window in your house causes.

My chickens, all from the same batch, so no interest in roosting at night. They all huddle together in the same corner. My rooster sits sentry at the door. So they may be sleeping wherever the rooster sleeps?

If I want some to hatch, how do I know which eggs to leave for them while consuming the others?

The roof on the house is a piece of fence so I added a tarp. Then I added a second tarp; still gets soaked. The run has two tarps and at a point they overlap.
