I think it looks like a she!! Did the comb just start growing quickly? That’s what happened to my hens right before they began laying!
The tail looks more like a hen than a roo to me too!!
Hi everyone,
My hens started laying eggs!!!! So exciting for me because I am a first time chicken owner. But I need to make sure I am still taking the best care of them that I can.
I have 2 roosters out of the six I raised from chicks. A Silkie and a Belgium D’Uccle... every once in a while...
Hey ya’ll!!
I just wanted to pop in for some expert advice :)
Is my 16 wk old Silkie a Rooster??
We can’t decide!!! We have a Barbu D’Uccle that’s the same age and we are 100% he’s one!! He even started crowing a squeaky little crow a week ago! I couldn’t believe he was crowing so young! (I...
Mine is 250 too! They are in a storage very large tub for now (quickly out growing it).... and it feels super warm under the heat lamp, so I guess it could be a thermometer malfunction too
Here is how it’s set up...

When I soaked his feet on Friday, hundreds of red bugs started coming out of his feathers!!! So I figured they were mites and we've dusted all the chickens and the entire barn and the more I search about mites and look at pictures, the more this could be causing it? Here is a picture of his feet...
He is walking around good today! We have them bandaged up between his toes and around his toes... and it actually looks like some color is coming back to his feet. Giving him a baby aspirin twice a day, and hoping they keep getting better not worse!
So I soaked his feet in epson salt very good today and gave him a baby aspirin.. the front of his legs and top and bottoms of his feet still look very healthy. The back of his legs do look neurotic, but could this mean he will only loose skin? There are a few toes that have a gray tint.
Does...
I am going to start giving him antibiotics! Is there anything to do at this point to save them? So maybe he loses a few toes instead of his whole foot?
