well today, ms. dominant challenged henzilla......and the goose who is happily sitting on 18 duck eggs... joined in and then one of the polish hens made the strangest noise and everyone froze and didnt say a word for a whole five minutes and then carried on as if nothing had happened!
we had two turkey hens that roosted in the tree inside our pen and we sold them and within a week we lost three of our best hens to a racoon......so i would say yes for turkeys. but i have heard guineas are the best, if you can put up with their annoying calls
i have a pair of toulouse goose about a year old, Tonny and Hiss(male and female). i moved them to a pen with rougher ground rocks and sandy dirt, so i got them lots of straw and the Hiss has made what looks to be a large nest in theyre shelter and Tonny has become overly aggressive to me. and...
maybe she is trying to gather eggs to sit on? and she is on the nest as long as the others dont need to lay i have beeen out with them all day so ive watched her...i just hope she is..and also can refridgerated eggs be put back into the nest for her? just curious...
feed is expensive here and we usually buy the same stuff in the winter as we do in the summer and all the hens rarely lay in the winter and every spring they start back up again. its earlyier thatn usual, but this week almost all of them have started laying again except for 1 she is about a year...
no the neighbors dog didnt kill them...the geese would probably kill the neighbors min. pomeranian lol but yes as to selling them for whatever we are peobably going to get about 20 geese this spring to free range until grown then sell them off in the late summer :)
wellll.....she got what she wanted. from 1 of the hormone imbalanced 7 month old roosters.........i dont think she liked it.....the rooster obviously couldnt accually do anything to her but he tried and she has stayed away from the chickens ever since! lol :) i think thats a good thing..
