I see that this is an old thread, but wondering if you came up with a solution and what it was. I too thought that my chickens were eating their eggs until I walked in on a blue bird in the nesting box. What to do?
We adopted 8 chicks from a neighbor last summer and aren't sure what some of the breeds are. What breed is this in the picture? The comb is scrunched or flattened. Is it normal for this breed? We have two hens of this breed and the combs on both look the same.
We have 12 five-week old pullets. Our immediate neighbor got 8 chicks around the same time as us, so they should be the same age, give or take a week. We are combining the flocks and will definitely need to quarantine. At this point, both flocks are out in open pens during the day and only sleep...
