How do you raise tame chickens?

I have 2 that are two weeks old and just added 4 newly hatched. They are in a brooder tub. Should I put them down on the floor in my house? Will they run away from me?

How do you raise a tame chick that will let you pick it up when it’s an adult?

chicken can barely stand and walk for weeks

About 2 months ago I noticed my Light Brahma sitting in the middle of the yard a lot while the others free ranged. I just thought she was being lazy until about 3 weeks ago she could barley walk. She might have had scaley leg mites so I treated her with Nu-Stock ointment but the next day she...

    Scaley feet

This is a pic of my light brahma’s feathered feet. Is this scaling normal? And I just noticed her nail is missing on one toe. And that toe is shorter than the rest. She is very shy so I don’t pick her up often, and with the feathers covering her feet, I don’t know what her feet look like...

clipping wing and getting on roost

I need to trim my chickens wings because they are flying over the fence. If I do this will they still be able to get up on their roost? It's only 2-3 feet high. I read you only trim one wing and this will make them unbalanced enough to not fly, but should I trim both so they can fly up to the...

Why is 6 week old Cinnamon Queen pecking and eating other chicks feathers?

According to our research it is plenty big enough. Especially since they will just be sleeping in the coop. But today (for the first time -exciting!) they will be let out in the 6x12 attached run. And then every day allowed to free range for part of the day.

    Production Reds?

I suspected they were Speckled Sussex by the Hatchery's brochure pics! Thanks!

Why is 6 week old Cinnamon Queen pecking and eating other chicks feathers?

Are they old enough for mealworms? At 6 weeks old I don't think they could swallow them whole yet.

    Production Reds?

I bought these chicks when just hatched and were told they were female Production Reds but they are more white speckled mixed in with the reddish brown than other pictures show. They are about 5 weeks old. Maybe they will loose the white feathers later?

Why is 6 week old Cinnamon Queen pecking and eating other chicks feathers?

They were in a large refrigerator box (maybe 5 feet by 3 feet) waiting for our chicken coop to be built. (It was delayed because lots of rain in our area). My thoughts were they were bored. But today we just moved them to their new 4x6 coop and will let them in the run in a day or two, so hoping...

Why is 6 week old Cinnamon Queen pecking and eating other chicks feathers?

Hello! We got 10 baby chick for the first time 6 weeks ago and one of the Cinnamon Queens is a bully. She picks on the Black Stars and Production Reds by relentlessly pecking at them and eating their feathers. Is eating feathers normal? She has constant access to chick grit, water and a good...
