What did you do in the garden today?

Minnesota of course! Only here can you still have snowbanks in June.

What did you do in the garden today?

Seriously? We are in the middle of a huge blizzard. I just spent the last 3 hours digging my car out of a drift the size of my coop.

Abutting planter boxes against run for predator protection

I did this around the entire run and it works perfectly and frees up a lot of space in the garden. Also convenient for feeding treats to the girls.

Watering the birds in winter? Water Freezing........

Quote: I have it and HATE it. It's very messy to fill and requires daily scrubbing. The best thing I have found for winter are the big heated dog bowls. They are easy to clean and fill and I have never had a problem with them freezing. The biggest ones I can find around here are 5 qt. I...

    Hamburg housing

Mine are extremely active. I would say they need twice as much room as your average chicken. They seem to do better when calmer breeds are kept with them. If you put a few brown egg layers with them then you will know which eggs are the hamburgs.

    conure vs. cockatiel?

From my experience suns are more playful than cockatiels. Suns are more prone to behavioral problems such as feather picking, screaming, and biting due to their constant need to play - this happens when we leave them at home and go to work - they get bored and that is how they show their...

    conure vs. cockatiel?

I used to do a lot of rescue work. Of all the birds my favorite are green cheek conures. Great personalities, generally quiet and are not usually scared of new foods/people/objects.

    I'm exhausted!

Thanks guys and gals! It's been a lot of hard work but I love every minute of it. I really need to get a new digital camera so I can take pics of my project meaties - I am so proud of them. As for the plants, yes, I sold them all locally. There really isn't much around here for variety...

    I'm exhausted!

My blrw bantams I did not weigh - but I would say somewhere between the 3-4 pound range. They look small but are very heavy. They were hatchery stock that I have been breeding cuz I like the meat they produce. To me they look more like cornish/wyandotte crosses. Whatever they are they sure...

    I'm exhausted!

All the eggs I sell are to friends and family. My sister buys 3 dozen each week. I would never sell to someone I didn't know. Should they get sick I don't want them to blame me. I sell eggs for $2.25 a dozen. I'm definitely not making a profit from eggs. I just got my parents started in...
