losing feathers, has dry skin, dry nub whats happening?

I have a black gold chicken hen about 6 years old. She has frizzled wing feathers and dry skin, pin feathers sticking out of her stomach and wings, and a dry skin nub at base of tail losing feathers. What is wrong?

    Dust Bath

It is safe DE and I will add some regular dirt to it. I have potting soil but it has fertilizer in it. I will try to find some earth around the house that isn’t all clay. I have some sand around the sprinkler system that’s not working right now. I can enlarge some dog holes!!

Yes that would be great! Mine have a tiny outdoor area that is not covered but I can put it into the hen house it’s quite large.

    Dust Bath

I introduced a dust bath to my year old hens and they are ignoring it - how do I introduce them to it and get them to use it? It is diatomaceous earth in a large round rubber feed bin. I also want to introduce one to my three chicks who are starting to fledge out in feathers. I need help!

If it is a pheasant, they don't do well in confined areas and will be very wild around people. They will panic easily and they don't...

Coop questions- auto door, and predator deterrents

I live in wyoming with chickens for the first time. Hardest thing is getting water to the chickens during winter. This last winter they stayed in the Garage which is heated. Building a larger coop and run and yes, you need something like netting over it. Chicken hawks get into our lean-to where...
