This was my first time incubating, I have always ordered from a hatchery. You definitely need to get 2 thermometers/hygrometers that you trust and use them inside rather than the one that comes with the unit. Not sure why everyone finds the ones on the unit are not to be trusted and why the...

I had great luck with this incubator and my first hatch. Hatched 21 out of 24 cute Easter Eggers. I agree with the need to adjust the temperature but once you get it right, it stays there and is not a problem. Definitely use your own thermometer/hygrometer though.

Long Islanders.... I know you are out there

Thanks for the reply. Agway doesn't sell fertilized eggs. I was hoping to get them locally. I know the hatcheries will mail them but that sounds dangerous to me and is quite expensive. Was hoping to pick them up and not subject them to the post office and shipping.

Long Islanders.... I know you are out there

Hi. I am a fellow Long Islander in Suffolk county. I am looking to buy fertilized eggs because I just got an incubator for my birthday. (everyone laughs at me for this gift but I know you will all understand). Would love to hatch some chicks! Does anyone know of a place to buy them on Long Island?

How to Break a Broody Hen

I have a partridge bantam cochin who finally started laying in February, at almost a year old. She laid for a month before becoming broody and sitting on the eggs. I have no roosters so no eggs are fertile. We have quarantined her a number of times, 3 nights in the dog pen to break the...

Bantam Chicks Dying in the First Week

I also ordered bantams from Cackle. I can happily report one week later they are all fine. They were so tiny when I picked them up. I worried that first day until it looked like everyone was eating and drinking.

***HELP****Training them to go into the coop at night and use a ladder?

Great idea! I'll have to remember that. Chicks just arrived yesterday so I have a bit to wait.
