Hello there, haven’t been on the sight in awhile. We gave our chickens away to some friends as our life has gotten busier lately. We may get some more chickens in the future, we’ll see.
This site has some good info on it. I’ll be using it again if we get chickens again
Maybe your hens are eating the eggs? I had a similar problem( we have 18 Golden Comets and were expecting close to a dozen a day but were only getting 2-4 eggs a day) we had to gather eggs multiple times through out the day before they stopped eating them… they’ll still eat the eggs if we leave...
I’ve had success using rain barrels as well. My dad rigged up some barrels behind my chicken coop, catching the rain from the gutters. He used food grade 300gallon barrels… I believe he paid $20-$50 for them. They do look nicer than the blue/white 300 gallon barrels( but the blue ones he got for...
Last year I sold them for $4 and it seemed to go fine. This year I thought why not try to sell for $5 and see what happens. I haven’t had any problems selling them for that amount. The price around here varies… some sell for $3 a dozen and upwards. And with rising feed costs the $5 makes up for it🙂
It’s possible they need the eggs but don’t have the money for them. I thought maybe it was a language barrier where someone didn’t understand that they needed to pay for the eggs. I’d rather think that than otherwise. Again, so far no one has taken any more eggs without paying for them but I’m...
We had someone stop by the other day while my husband was around and he asked for my husband’s number to text when he needs eggs… I’m hoping they’ll be regular customers. So far after my first post no one has taken any eggs but I’m kinda expecting it to happen again. I haven’t put up a security...
Unfortunately I’m a little uncertain about answering the door to anyone. If the customer caught me outside and asked about eggs that’s a different story, I was always glad to tell them yes or no if I had eggs. So if this keeps happening I’ll either have to stop or maybe try a security camera. My...
Unfortunately I had the sign right in front of the house and they still didn’t pay😕I can look out my front and side windows to see the stand and sign.
The egg stand is in clear sight of the house, maybe 20 feet away?
Was just wondering if anyone was having the same problem I’ve been having selling eggs.
Ive been selling eggs by the side of the road last year and this year. Last year was going great, selling dozens every week. I have a small container for the customers to put the money in. My sign was...
My oldest was an Easter egger. Ordered a bunch of chicks in 2011 and she’s the last one alive. Not sure if I got them in March or April of 2011... so she’s almost 10 years old and still lays, albeit not very often😃
