Bullying, Mixed breeds, integrating newbies HELP!

Hi Friends! We’ve had our original three chickens since they hatched in April. All came from the same hatch, but are a “barnyard mix” — “Pecker” (named by my three-year-old! ) resembles a Columbian Wyandotte (or maybe a Brahma but without feathered feet), “Pepper” resembles a Black Australorp...

Are my eggs hidden in the woods??

This is great information! Thank you for taking the time to make such a thoughtful reply. I did not know about the pattern of laying around every 25 hours. I will keep them in their coop and check frequently to see if I can narrow down her laying time. Thanks again!

Are my eggs hidden in the woods??

I tried following her around a bit when I got home at 10:30am (they’d been out for about two hours) but they were all a lot more interested in following ME! I will try this again in the future. Thanks!

Today, I went out a little early and was surprised to see two eggs in a nest! These birds hatched in April and, as...

Wow! Thank you for your thoughtful comments and suggestions. I so much appreciate how you took the time. I have not heard much about using deep bedding and deep litter. I’m pretty much doing the opposite out of ignorance! I will definitely implement your suggestions. Thank you again!

Great ideas! I think I can handle those suggestions. These is not a roost above the nesting boxes, just the roost you see on the right side of the picture, and yes, like your chickens would, mine roost on top of the boxes to be higher up. I will look into raising the roost higher. I really...

Above: southern exposure Above: western exposure Above: northern exposure and door to coop Above: inside of coop Hi friends! This is my first winter with chickens. We have only three — two EEs and a New Hampshire Red. Because it’s such a small flock, I’m worried they are more likely to be...

I can sex your pullets and cockerels!

Update regarding Saffron. You kind folks identified this bird as a pullet earlier in the summer, when s/he was six weeks. I'm now getting a bit concerned that it's a cockerel. Bird is 12 weeks now. Possibly Red Star? Tail feathers and comb are more pronounced than my other birds (same age...
