Moving is a must, they have to go. 😭 NorCal, Colusa county

He hasn’t been, no. He’s one of the ones born here. The originating flock was vaccinated against it and closed from any contact with outside flocks. The young roos we have now are second generation and weren’t vaccinated themselves.

Moving out of a bad situation - roos & hens need homes in a hurry. Colusa County, California (95970)

EDIT: they have officially been posted on Craigslist because I cannot leave them here, even if it means they get bought by someone for food. this is killing me. Hi, all. Having chickens has been my life dream. I’ve had the chance to live it for a good couple years, but the property I’m on keeps...

Hi, all. Having chickens has been my life dream. I’ve had the chance to live it for a good couple years, but the property I’m on keeps getting more run down instead of better. Due to furthering health decline combining with that, I need to rehome my flock in full or piecemeal. I’ll try to get...

Ended Funny Chicken Name Contest - Win 60 lbs of Grubbly Layer Feed From GrubblyFarms

Ruby Ruby Rue Skü the Roo Nugget ButtNugget (hatchling of Nugget) Ranch (hatched out five chicks, it seemed appropriate) KEVIN (her name is always done in all caps/spoken with authority, as she’s always in trouble or sneaking out) Betty (leghorn) Fencepost (she got herself tangled upside down in...

Mine have been raised fairly natural. Their coop is open aired, so they feather up thick over winter and leave for the shade of the bushes or stand in their “wading pool” (the deep lid to a storage tub) during the summer days. I didn’t give them extra light last winter so I think I’ll stick with...

Hey, have y’all been having any issues with your ladies dropping fewer eggs these last couple weeks? I don’t know if it’s the heat, they’re moulting, or if my girls are hiding theirs in a new place, but we’ve seen a drastic reduction recently. Mine are out in Colusa county.

Ended 2020 BYC Calendar - We Need Your Pictures!

Chip as a young cockerel. Rella having a spa day right after I sprayed down the wood pile. If either of these don’t match the need, please let me know. I have a ton of beautiful images but I don’t have a working computer at the moment and it’s hard to tell from my phone.

Unsure of broody’s egg age… ideas?

That one was a surprise, we weren’t planning on letting anyone stay broody or set. As it turns out, she’s the only one that’s gone thoroughly broody and has stuck to a nest - to the point that she’s missing feathers from fighting off the other ladies when they came trying to lay there. She and...

Unsure of broody’s egg age… ideas?

So, one of my girls went broody and hid herself away. We finally found her and got (almost) everything out, but it seems she was hiding one under the floorboards. When we went to do another sweep a couple days later, she had more than she should have. I candled them, and she had a successful...

I just got a call that my second (Dale) cockerel got out while no one was home and fought with the main (Chip). He took what sounds like serious damage to his legs and may have lost an eye. I’m frustrated because I’m out of town, and can’t do more than walk my aunt through chicken first aid.

    Let Me Draw Your Chickens!

This is my Ruby Rue… if she’s getting chased, she hops up on me. She actually rides around on my shoulder sometimes, while I’m out making rounds of the property. Chip Dale (roo with white streak on his tail)
