Introducing new quail to existing flock

The older quail are about 8 weeks old. But I've only had the roo together for a couple weeks with the hen since the hen had a minor problem early on in development and had to be separated out for treatment. The hen recovered and since the other roo was causing issues with our second flock...

Introducing new quail to existing flock

yeah we will probably serve him up after the next group of chicks are big enough to be with the hen. I just don't want the hen to be alone if it can be helped and she doesn't get along as well with our other flock.

Introducing new quail to existing flock

ah I just thought with them being a bit younger and not sexually mature they wouldn't seem as much of a threat. tho could just be this rooster. we had some minor aggression from him before but he seemed to calm down with this hen so we gave it a chance but still on the fence after him killing...

Introducing new quail to existing flock

What are tips for introducing new quails to a flock? I was attempting to add some new future breeders to my single pair of normal coturnix quail. I had attempted to introduce some 3 week old chicks (5) to a pair (one roo and one hen) so that we have a better ratio and had devastating results...

the diet they have should be fine I just think I switched them too early to the adult food but have ordered more of the chick feed. the Country best was just an emergency purchase since I ran out of their normal chick feed and order their food online from a reputable source here in Germany. It...

    Quail having issues walking

We have 6 chicks Enclosure is 120x60x60 rabbit hutch tho we add lots of bedding (aspen shavings mixed with hay) and hides with flat surface so they can sit ontop so the actual height is a bit less. They are housed indoors so no drafts and have not seen them picking on each other. Not sure on...

    Quail having issues walking

I tried posting the video but looks like it keeps failing. she will usually just stand there walk a couple steps then fall back on one side. no flapping and will continue to look around and peck and things but she's not really exhorting herself and we've placed a bowl of food and water in reach...

    Hatched chicks in incubator

Chicks are out. Had a total of 7 out of 12 hatch. 2 didn't make it past early development And were removed on lock down. 2 never pipped and were dead in egg. One pipped and is still alive in the incubator but will probably not survive. 2 have curled feet that we have put in a separate...

    Hatched chicks in incubator

yeah the internal pip isn't visible as it is just the membrain inside the egg but an external will sometimes be hard to spot also but means that the chick has cracked through the shell. So far we have 5 chicks out with 5 more eggs in the incubator tho I only am seeing pips on 2 of the eggs...

So hatch day has begun and one chick hatched yesterday earlier than the rest ( under 24 hrs as of now) but the other are just beginning to pip yesterday night. How long can I leave the first chick before it will need access to food and water? The incubator is small and I don't want to risk...
