Looks like I might be able to keep the little cockerel that I have if he isn't going to fight with anyone. The issue that I have is that he is my only one. Can I breed him in with my white bantam pullets? I have one that is white with black legs, not sure if it's a bantam or a white OEG pullet...
Well that is different. They told me they were all OEG's when I bought them as chicks. I guess they threw in an odd ball. I will try and get a better one of the gold one. The Egyptian one has been crowing now for over a month I wonder if that is normal for that breed at that age.
I have 2 game cockerels 4 months old. The brown and gold one originally we thought it was a pullet so put it in with this one, then it started growing beautiful feathers and started crowing the other day. Anyone know what type they are? I can't find either one in any photos, however they are...
I have 4 of these right now. They are 2 months old so in another 3 weeks they will be getting their own little coop away from my other chicks. They are really sweet, I am enjoying them.

1st one is an EE. I got 2 in my box, one is now grey and the other one is brownish but you can tell by the puffy cheeks. 2nd one is either the Wyndotte or another barred. I have both 3rd I have as well and am stumped as to what they are. 4th not sure either. I know they are not grey...
I think I will do this this spring. It would be well worth the cost to become NPIP certified. I don't think they care at all about where the chickens are housed. I saw someone on CL one day selling NPIP certified chicks. The issue was that the coop and the area where they foraged was pure mud. I...
Yes there is a video that shows at 7 days old you can see which ones are pullets by the tail feathers. I have out of 49 chicks 33 cockerels. I am not happy with that at all
I really enjoyed them. I have thought about getting more and may later on. However it is not one of my specialty breeds. We had one that broke her foot, while her footmended she was in the house with us living and she would lay with her head on my foot while I worked at the computer. She became...
Note the word hardware cloth, most of us have coops made with chicken wire. However my neighbor stuck about 5 cords of wood piled up right behind my coop where My fence is for my property. It's about 12 inches from thecoop. Last year my roosters killed in total over 60 snakes. Chicks wouldn't...
yes you can. I usually take my heat away from them at 2 weeks. Here in the south with 90+ egree weather in summer we don't need heat when they are in the coop. However until when they are feathered out and good sized I can't put them outside. Snakes would kill them in a second.
Well here is one from our Special from Cackle. It is an unknown for now, but he has a wonderful name that for now fits him very well his name is Jesus and the reason is on the back of his head
I sort of wanted to say that I am happy with all that I got from the surprise. It took 3 months to get them after I payed for them, however they gave me 53 chicks, I was expecting 40. So I actually ended up with more then what I wanted however 2 were dead on arrival. 1 died yesterday which now...
We got 1 chick just 2 days ago that looks like this one we named it Jesus. The reason is on the back f his head, however cackle shows this breed as being grey not white with the black markings so which is it? I am still stumped but yours looks just like the one we have
