    Cold snap solo hen

Got a solo Wyandot hen 4.6 yo suddenly and we have a sudden cold snap after warm weather. It’s going to get down to 11-15 degrees f. She dropped all her small feathers all day today. Her vent looks clean but gave her meds on it and dropper of B12. And protein. Scrambled egg and mealy worms...

Solo hen- need another adult hen

I now am down to one hen- a 4 year old Golden Lace Wyandot. Any suggestions on where to find an adult hen so she can survive winter? I’ve asked neighbors but they don’t have any. ( we are only allowed three in our town). I’ll check animal shelters. A man at Murdochs said he’d give me one of...

Cont. I also have new neighbors that spray trees constantly and that could be what initially decreased their immune system.

    Help! Losing hens

Check if they have mareks ( I think it’s called) or fly bite. My neighbors two hens had mareks which can travel 5 miles airborne virus and not long after three of my hens died. Not sure if my last hen will die too but being alone she may as our weather is turning. I think maybe they got mareks...

How do you keep your bedding dry in wet weather?

In my hens outdoor area I’ve been using pine straw, sage and mint leaves scattered for smell, on top of that I’ll sprinkle hay. The pine straw doesn’t break down like the other stuff if it gets wet. Inside I use the mint and sage with wood and pinewood shavings. In the winter I tried the deep...

    Wobbly chickens- dying.

Different symptoms. Hen 1 and hen 3 similar. Slow, seemed unable to find or peck for food. Pale or smallish comb. Blackish discharge or poop coming out of bottom. Hen 2 just dropped dead no symptoms. Hen 4 has white stuff coming out of bottom which others had in beginning.

Help! Hen sickly. Seems to be getting worse

Thank you. She’s 4. Not laid a since winter. Comb thin deflated. It’s not a molting issue as she’s molted before and never had this issue. I’ll do the scrambled eggs, vit b, get the treatment you suggested. Even giving meal worms she can’t seem to find them easily like before. Could this be from...

Help! Hen sickly. Seems to be getting worse

Hi, My Welsummer Hen is sickly. I noticed these black dots on her head. Lethargic, slow to eat and can’t get her to drink. Not good balance. Wobbly. Doesn’t seem egg bound. I’m not sure what to do. Gave warm bath, been giving Durastat in water.
