    MMM hens continue to perform well. With five MMM hens in the flock, getting four dark eggs on most days. Now that they are mature they resemble Australorpe hens with black shiny feathers sporting a green and or purple sheen.

    At about six months old my mmm hens are laying more regular. I had four mmm eggs in the collection today.

    Found first MMM egg in nest boxes yesterday. Smaller as first eggs always are but definitely darker than any of my other birds. The MMM hens are about five months old.

    Update... I turned out my ten, eight week old, female Midnight Majestic Marans with the adult Australorp flock this week. Everyone getting along fine. Nine of them look like black Marans, 1 is more brown??? Hover told me they will not breed true. They should have named them Mystery Midnight...

    Black Australorp Rhode Island red Cross?

    This hen and rooster are the result of an Australorp hen and a RIR rooster cross. Very nice calm birds and they lay well.

    If she produces as billed you should be able to tell her eggs from the other eggs in your mixed flock. Please post how much she lays compared to your other chickens.
