    Predator

    Today I lost 1 quail and 2 chicks. All three had their heads bitten off. The quail were in double wired cage while the chicks were in a run. There was access from the top of the run so I think it must have been a raptor of some sort. However just decapitated and not eaten?

    Broken leg

    Got a 4 week old Texas am quail with a broken leg . Can I use a splint and scotch tape for repair?

    Swollen toe and nail

    18 MO old auracana. Stopped laying. Toe is discolored. Should be blue is goldish. Nail is black. Limping. Don't know what to do.

    Auracauna named "Gerti"

    Our favorite chicken is about 17 months old. She has a swollen front toe with a black nail. Notice this 2 days ago. She has not laid an egg in 4 days(typically does every other day). Is beginning to favor it a little. Read that it may be a staph infection. How should it be cleaned/treated?
