    Day old chick w/ crooked toes and trouble holding head up

    We've finally hatched after almost 40 hours! I did have to break away some shell as the chick cracked it, but chick broke free from membrane and pushed shell away on its own. 24 hours later, we seem to be dealing with crooked toes and still struggling to stand and hold head up. Any suggestions...

    I pulled back some of the cracked shell, and placed it on a nice warm moistened paper towel and back in the incubator. It's still breathing, chirping, and trying to kick out.

    Thank you! It definitely got turned around, I'm thinking one of our other lil ones knocked into it after it went into lockdown. I've been watching and keeping any exposed membrane moist with just a lil drop of water on my finger. I have the humidity up in the incubator. I will keep you posted.

    My chick pipped the side 24 hours ago with a small hole. It made some progress by getting it's beak through the membrane a few hours later. It has since stopped making progress. Still breathing and small chirping. I'm not sure when or if I should assist.
