Thank you. I will check her vent. She is drinking and she is eating the eggs I provided but she is sleeping more and more. So I just don't know what to do or think. She is hardly supporting her head now. I am torn. But if I go with my heart I say it's time to let her go and stop her suffering...
I just checked her abdomen and it feels harder to me today then what I felt a few days ago. Still squishy but harder. I am unable to go to the store at this point and get some plain yogurt since my 8month old daughter is asleep and I cant trust my husband to respond to her if she should happen...
Ok so I have to report that there has been a change in my hen. But I don't know what it means. I decided to try and put water directly in front of her and she drank. Just a little while ago I decided to try giving her some bread. I threw a few pieces in front of her and she started eating them...
I am sorry for your loss. Mine is still fighting. But I can see she is wearing down quick! I don't know what to do. Should I let her sit peacefully and go on her own or speed up the process? She is just sitting going in and out of sleep. The only thing she is really holding up is her head from...
Looks like my girl will go on her own. She is beginning to close her eyes more often! And is now holding her head down more. She was a good chicken and I will miss her morning songs!
Thank you for the info. That is exactly what it appears to be. Even last summer I noticed a change in her eggs. She was laying very thin shelled eggs. Even with the oyster shell I was giving her. This makes me sad, but I know now what has to be done! Thank you so much for your help!
I will check her again this morning but I do remember checking her bottom abdomen and yes I do remember it feeling as though there was fluid sitting there. I tried offering her food but she just won't eat. And is barely moving. But her head is not hanging down. :(. I don't want her to suffer...
I have noticed different behavior in my Black Sex Link for about a month now. She has been isolating herself from my other two chickens. I have checked her multiple times but didn't find anything really wrong. She would still come running if she thought I had food. She is 2 years old now and has...
Ok thank you! Maybe I should complain about Bob more often!! she finally layed an egg today! ha ha! Glad to know this is normal for an Ameraucana! Although I kind of figured because she seems completely healthy to me! :)
Hello I am back again!!! So my Ameraucana started off with laying nice olive green to blue eggs! I put all 3 of my girls on oyster shell and I give them back their own egg shells! What I am not understanding is why my Ameraucana is still having problems! She went back to laying hard shelled eggs...
This is my first year raising chickens! They are like my babies! My 4 year old is also very protective of them! I also have 3 large breed dogs! Yesterday was my first encounter with a hawk! I think it may have been a red tailed hawk, but it all happened so fast I can't say for sure! I was...
