We've had 2 bantams, 1 silkie and 1 toppie game fowl, and they're both good for getting broody every other month. We gave the silkie her own chicks to raise and she was an incredible mom despite the fact that all 4 were different, larger breeds than her.
Did you ever get a satisfactory answer on this? My chickens have not been laying much, they're acting a bit unusual, a few have had trouble eating as if they have impacted crops but the vet didn't see much of a problem, and they're molting at unusual times.
I assume it's an injury too but what alarmed me was the fact that it happened with 2 girls on the same day. So strange. I haven't seen her fight with anyone and she's spending her days loafing on the ground with the group.
I have two hens with injured legs. Both are two and 1/2 years old. One has had a slight limp since she was a chick. The other developed a noticeable limp a few months ago. Friday they both suddenly had extreme limps and are having trouble getting around. One seems slightly better today (2 days...
I appreciate your response. Her crop feels empty today. Last night I was concerned it could be an impacted crop but today it feels empty and she's still unable to eat. Seems like she's drinking water though
My hen seems hungry but she isn't able to eat anything. I offered her mealworms before bed last night and she came over to them and was interested but she only touched her beak to them and then shook her head. A small amount of liquid splashes out when she shakes. She seems to have a full crop...
I tried feeling for something but I can't tell if anything is there. I'm not exactly a chicken anatomy expert. I think we're coming up on 2 hours inside and only 1 strange watery poop and another tiny poop. Very unusual for any chicken.
I can't see anything. It is hot. Has been for weeks. I have her inside in an air conditioned room. Stood her cool water and she's been eating cold watermelon.
No other symptoms that I've noticed. Comb and waddles are still red.
My chicken is breathing like she has an obstruction, but I can't tell if that's the case. We gave her some bread soaked in olive oil. It's been 40 minutes and nothing has changed. She is eating still. I tried attaching a video to this post. Not sure if it worked. Any ideas?
