    New hen being mean?

I should also say that she came from a farm where she was probably used to running wild all the time, but seemed stressed. She’s missing almost all of her tail feathers and back feathers. I’m thinking she was around a few roosters on the daily. She makes this weird sound, definitely not a cluck...

    New hen being mean?

Yesterday I added a laying hen to my flock of five younger pullets. The five I had are 9 or 10 weeks old. The new hen isn’t hurting them much, although she will peck them if they come too close to her, but she mostly chases them away from the food and water. They are terrified of her! They did...

    Young Silkie Randomly Died?

We got her from a reputable farm, they test for all sorts of things. I know she wasn’t show quality like most of their birds are, but she seemed healthy. We’ve been feeding chick feed, with grit on the side because we do free range and feed them table scraps here and there. I threw some pork...

    Young Silkie Randomly Died?

This morning I let the chickens out and five of the six came out as usual. The Silkies usually take longer to come down but I checked the coop anyway and one happened to be lying at the back, limp. She was breathing and twitching a bit, and opened her eyes when I talked to her. She even tried to...

    Stumped...what breed is this chick?

Updated photo from today! Still unsure if it’s a frizzle.

    Stumped...what breed is this chick?

I think only a week or two old at this point. Should become pretty obvious soon.

    Stumped...what breed is this chick?

Cochin would make sense. I’ve had some people say it looks like it might be a frizzle also. I’m not really seeing that but not sure. What do you all think?

    Stumped...what breed is this chick?

Mystery baby from Tractor Supply! Friend rescued it and gave it to me. Any ideas on breed?

    Cochin Bantam...rooster?

Isn't it funny how that works? Oh well, maybe next time I get a Cochin.

    Cochin Bantam...rooster?

I'm so sad that I may be getting rid of this one. My FAVORITE, of course. I picked this one because the comb seemed a lot lighter and smaller than the others of the same age, but I think I still got a roo. So sad. What do you all think? 8 weeks old.

    Any roosters in this bunch?

I believe they are all about three weeks old? I just want to be sure I can do it early enough that integrating new chicks will be easier.

    Any roosters in this bunch?

I bought these chicks from TSC. Employee was sure they were all pullets but you know how that goes sometimes. I need to fix this issue soon and replace the roosters (if there are any). Any guesses would be great! I included what breed they are supposed to be as well, in case that helps at all...
