It was a hard move, but since my now husband was here in the US and I was in the UK, then having to go through covid and being separated for 3yrs because of travel bans but still keeping together and being strong; I was all “nope” that ain’t happening ever again. So I chose to do the move.

We moved her from where she was. She was in the corner of the coop, like she had just fallen asleep there in the corner. She could of fallen off the roost in the night too.
Our other two girls are showing similar signs; weightloss and purple or pale combs. They already had weightloss from...
We don't use a heat lamp during summer and hadn't turned it on until recently. Their body adjusts through-out the seasons. Here we sadly get extremely hot summers and then extremely cold winters.
If we chose to not turn on a heat lamp during the winter and it was mild, they'll be fine. But...
It doesn't come across as worrying though sometimes. I have posted threads on here a lot of times and people always jump on someone who mentions about using a heat lamp.
My mother in law here has used them for 20+ years, a long with a number of people who own chickens. It gets to about -40...
Trying to think what else it could be when it wasn't just her by the looks of it now.
Our Silver Laced Wyandotte and Light Brahma now have a purple comb, they have lost a lot of weight but they're eating a lot. Poops are runny and green'ish. They are molting so no egg production too.
Not egg...
Thank you, I was rather confused why people are so concerned over heat sources. It's a preference and all depends where abouts you live in the world as some places get too cold; no matter the insulated coop / ventilation. Some places just require to use them during winter. Many different heat...
Turns out it wasn't Valbazen, sorry yesterday I was a mess.
It's a poultry De-wormer from an actual farm home. We went to tractor supply but they had nothing and over the road they have a place that sells a bunch of farming supplies for chickens, goats, horses, cows and all that.
It's...
I know people who give treats pretty much every day and they feed mealworms like it’s candy. I know it’s a 90% / 10% ratio with feed and treats.
I pretty much feed them that 10% of treats. I don’t give it to them everyday.
Greens are great to give in the summer, especially cucumber. Freezing...
I think I have pictures in my bio,
<--- link should be under "My Coop"
We feed them 16% pellets, have done since we got them. They're about 3years old. We use the 16% on our Emu as well.
During summer they get greens and treats, like lettuce, tomato, broccoli, cucumber, etc. Treats are...
Coop is insulated and has ventilation. It doesn't hurt to use heat lamps if you know what you're doing. As I said; Everybody around us who owns chickens use heat lamps and those people have owned chickens for 20+ years.
I know a lot of people don't like to use heat lamps, but it's a preference...
Thank you, I really appreciate the words. ♥
I am beating myself up because these guys helped us at such a bad time in our lives that they might as well be our children. They grew up inside our house, cuddled on fluffy blankets and were practically glued to our laps. It was only Maple and Aspen...
