pip at the top of duck egg?

Hi, unfortunately I fell a sleep last night and woke up to it being pip externally today. 3 are hatched, the 1 I was questioning about is the one with the external pip shown above. The last one is yet to show any signs of internal pipping that I can see... which does concern me. The three...

Just a quick update: So the little fella is doing well - s/he is so lovely, but is increasingly becoming more lonely. I feel quite bad as it was not our intention to only have the one duckling at this stage, we were sitting around the table last night and my partner pointed out s/he was...

    size of wire for run

Hi, sorry for the poorly written question - I was in a bit of a hurry. Yes, I meant the framing. 2"X1" frame work with 1.0mm (19 GAUGE) 1"X 1/2" galvanised welded mesh That is an example of the panels, I could get 10 of these to make a 12 x 6 foot run for less/similar price to what it would...

    size of wire for run

Hi , I was going to buy some pre-made aviary panels - which are just 2x1 strips covered with 19g wire mesh. These are 6' x 3' and would be the cheapest option to get a quick run set up. However I am concerned the 19g wire mesh won't be cat/fox proof (We only really have those to worry about...

That looks great! We were not planning on giving them access to a pond while in their run however I was thinking about building one for them which they can use when out of the run (this would be next year though). I was planning on having a drain running off into the rear of the garden to allow...

Thank you, I shall have a word with our daughter and see if she would be willing to give up one of her fluffy toys :) S/He is doing so well, walking around seems to be eating and drinking fine. I just used my fingers to show it what to do and it copied me. S/he does seem to chirp a lot if we...

6 Miniature Appleyard eggs - advice welcome

Morning, So I do beleive the second egg is sadly given up on us, still no signs of movement. However the first egg which I put the safety hole is has hatched! When I went to bed last night there was still no external pip, so I was very shocked when I woke up this morning to find a little...

Hi all, just a quick update; So the one which I put the safety hole in seems to be doing fine, still plenty of movement. When I checked on them this morning this egg was actually rocking and I could hear a chirp from the egg! Still no external pip though :/ The other one however I am unsure...

6 Miniature Appleyard eggs - advice welcome

Oh also, the other one - I assume I should wait until that has internally piped and do the same thing or is it better to wait until 24 hours after the internal pip to put the safety hole in? I shall check it again in the morning and as soon as I get home. Thank you again for the help

6 Miniature Appleyard eggs - advice welcome

haha, it was quite scary - Not so much sweaty but I think I checked the location of the chick 8 times before making the hole! I ended up using some sharp tweezers (the ones which curve around at the top) instead of the screw as the one I had wasn't quite right it felt like I was putting too...
