    Turkey Feed Ratios

I am familiar with protein percentages, what types of feed (starter, grower, finisher) to feed turkeys, and when to feed them , but I was wondering about feed ratios per bird. How many pounds of food per week should the average hen and tom be consuming? Are there any suggested ratios for heritage...

Who keeps a chair in or near the coop?

I have a 5 gallon bucket outside the door I just prop upside down. I can sit in the coop for hours just watching the gals and our three gents. This is the first year the coop has been up. Next year I plan to add a little patio off the side of the coop and find some garden chairs and a table so...

    Weird Poult behavior-any idea why?

Maybe it is a spaz, lol. If it is, I wonder what set it off. Never acted like this before today. I ended up having to take it with me in the car to pick up my son from work, lol. He just wouldn't let me put him back in the brooder box. The only place he quiets down is on my lap. Think I will...

    Weird Poult behavior-any idea why?

I have a two week old turkey poult who started cheeping up a storm and trying to fly out of the brooder. We have a screen on the brooder to keep them from getting out, but it keeps flying up and bouncing off of the screen. I tried putting a cloth on the screen so it could see it was there in...

Welcome to the forum! Oh I am soooo jealous you are starting with bees next year!I'm very interested in beekeeping, but so far can't get hubby on board with that, so have to be satisfied with the raw honey he purchases from a workmate. I would love to experiment with top bar hives. In the...

    Turkey eggs disappearing!

Quote: LOL! Better the sewing machine drawer than pants pocket in the laundry, which is where I found my son's little friend.I don't mind snakes, but surprise snakes wiggling in a pocket-now that's another story!

    help, poults won't eat.

I did start mine with a chick, but also put their food on aluminum foil and put shiny marbles in their water. They like to peck at shiny things. It may help.

Please help this fighter! Assisted hatch newborrn lying on it's side

Quote: I think it probably takes less energy for them to leave them closed. Energy conservation could help recovery from strenuous hatch. This one kept his eyes closed too at first.

Please help this fighter! Assisted hatch newborrn lying on it's side

This one was on his side for quite awhile. Looked like he was having seizures. Kinda paddled around the bator on his side. Took him awhile to get upright, then he mostly just sat for awhile. He was pretty quiet the first day, even though he had voiced his opinion loudly about being stuck in that...

Please help this fighter! Assisted hatch newborrn lying on it's side

Mine was already pipped when he got stuck. He was sticky like yours. I just left the goo alone. He seems to be drying out a fluffing up on his own, although his head still looks like he used too much styling gel.

Please help this fighter! Assisted hatch newborrn lying on it's side

Hi There, Just had something similar happen with my turkey poults, due to power outage and then generator outage, arrrggh! Helped one little guy out like you did, and he squirmed around on his side for about 12 hours. Left him in the incubator a little extra longer than the 10 others that...

Which chicken breeds are particularly noisy? Quiet?

Lol, compared to turkey toms they are all quiet. Luckily I have neighbors that love to hear my guys gobble. I have EEs and Cornish Xs at the moment. Just gave away a Polish roo. The EEs are not what I would call noisy, but they do get riled up easily and get a bit squawky then and at feed time...

    ugh lockdown

Day 26 for turkeys and have 3 pips this a.m. I'm glad I have 2 busy days to keep me away from the bator-this is nerve wracking, lol!The little early guy is keeping us entertained. Hubby is falling in love. He wanted me to sell any poults that hatch. Now he is like "We are going to keep a few...

Locked down on turkeys. Had one surprise hatch four days early! Wasn't nervous til that happened and saw how freaking CUTE turkeys are, lol. Now I'm trying not to hover, sigh. The little early guy is in a brooder with a chick and doing well. Haven't seen him eat yet but he's already picking at...
