    Update: I added an additional 2” to the front of the nesting boxes. This seemed solve the problem, they are no longer able to kick the straw of the boxes. Thanks everyone for their help. What a great group of folks! Thanks so much To all.

    They are just starting to lay. The nesting trays are about 2” deep.

    Help! My new hens keep emptying all of the straw from the nesting boxes. They do it within a few hours after I fill with new material. Then I end up with broken eggs, and a few times I caught them eating the broken eggs. Has anyone else had this problem? If so what was your solution.
