Australians - Where are you all????

Hi again Teila....I read recently that the way to stop roosters crowing early in the morning is to have their perch high in the shelter so that when they begin to crow they can't raise their heads....does that sound feasible?

    Coop Is Done

lol.....I don't consider that pushy at all....that's what I joined up for....HELP!! Thanks a bundle. I went outside for the last hour or so and we have fixed up a temporary extra run by using an old framework and some fishpond netting....it will do for now. The chooks don't seem overly impressed...

    Coop Is Done

Thanks Teila....your chooks look so sweet. Mine are plain ol' Isa Browns, but my sister tells me that they are very friendly and lay well...maybe as I get to owning chooks I may expand. How do your chooks cope with the heat and humidity of Queensland....although we have much higher temps in the...

Teila, I just noticed that you are from Queensland, so we do have the same kind of birds....which birds are the predators in your area for your chooks? I'm totally green as far as that goes.

    Coop Is Done

Thanks for the chat Teila....sounds good. I hadn't thought to put them on the pavers....but I do have some areas of garden that I have just dug over, and I think they should enjoy scratching around in it before I plant any more stuff there. We too have a pond, and a lot of the plants around the...

    Coop Is Done

Your picture shows that you have a lot of grassy area to let them roam...how lucky are they? I have a small suburban garden and a large portion of it is brick paved. Still, I do have a kitchen garden area I'm trying to develop which has grassy areas, so hopefully my chicks will be happy :-)

    Coop Is Done

I just bought my Isa Brown chicks a couple of days ago....am a beginner, so as yet I know little about chicken raising. Have you had Isa Brown's before, or are you like me....at the beginning of this chicken in the yard experience?

    Coop Is Done

Fantastic work. You have done such a good job...as a female, I'm a bit inexperienced with woodwork, so bought my new chicks a shop made coop mansion.....I need to construct a bigger pen for them to give them some extra space though, so will have a go at it today. Wish me luck :-)

New chicken owner living in Western Australia

Hi everyone....I have wanted chickens for a long while, but for all kinds of reasons never got around to it until this last week. We have 2 dear little Isa Brown chicks each 8 weeks old. Our garden is quite small so unfortunately we aren't able to have more. I was happy to have found this site...
