Thank you everyone for your very kind words. I did do a necropsy on Rosie, our Americauna who died, and the only thing I found was a fully formed egg inside her. There was no indication that the egg was "bound"; it looked like it was ready for her to lay it that day, but was still further up...
Our wonderful easter egger, Rosie, died today and we can't figure out why. Rosie was just under a year old. She came out of the hen house this morning as normal. Nothing unusual was noted about her behavior. About an hour ago, I found her lying on her side, still warm, but gone. No blood...
Two months ago, I uploaded some images of my young flock to ask for help identifying their breed(s). They've changed a bit since then, especially the roos. Do you still think they are EE's and cornish crosses?

Of the two hens in the top picture, one has green legs and one has yellow. Other than that, they look very much like each other. The rooster, middle picture, came with these two hens, and he has green legs. Both hens are laying small brown eggs.
