    I got mine last June, and it's still running perfectly on the 2 batteries it came with. We had many cold nights this winter. I was surprised. At this time of year, I'm happy that they can get into the run 20 minutes after sunrise.

    Good idea to take them off occasionally. Maybe a rotation between the hens. Supposedly, a rooster will mate 30 times a day. I suspect that that is your problem, and mine. We don't have enough hens. The minimum is 10, and more is better. I have 6 on the way. It should help. Good luck.

    She's been with them since birth, late June of last year. Aside from the rooster, I raised them from chicks. Sell her to who? How would that be better for her? She'd still be "the new chicken", wouldn't she? 😭 Is she so estranged already? This is horrible. Thank you for replying.
