    Heat Plates vs Heat Lamps

    Question... I’m sold on the heating plate for inside the brooder (I’m raising 6-8 poults), but once they are put outside in this Michigan weather, even once the turkeys are older how will I give them heat on the colder spring and fall nights? Is heat lamp only option?

    I’m from Jackson and just starting out with meat turkeys, does anyone have an idea where I can buy poults in the spring? TSC only has Broad Breasted and it sounds scarce at that

    I know the BB is going to be faster and more meat but I’m just doing it for fun with the kids, wouldn’t mind having a small handful of turkeys year round. Can I even decide on the ratio if I buy them as poults?

    Length of time I keep them is just dependent on what breed and how long it takes for maturity. I’m building an 8x8 hoop run and an 8x8 coop. I will keep two for breeding if it works out like that

    I’m wanting to raise meat turkeys for the first time, and want everyone’s input on what bird I should get given my wants. 5-6 turkeys Cooped up, no room for foraging Naturally reproducing (good mothering skills as well) Good tasting!
