What temperature is it where you live?

It rarely dips below 30C where I live but we’re experiencing a cold snap at the moment and it was barely 28C today and it was wonderful! During summer 36C is typical with around 80% humidity being the norm.

    What Attacked My Coop??

All snakes are protected by law in Australia. You can be prosecuted for killing them. Snake catchers can be called to relocate problem snakes and in my state are paid for by the Parks and Wildlife Service. The vast majority of Australian native animals are protected by law.

Advice on chick with splayed leg

Well I woke up this morning and checked her and I'm absolutely amazed at the improvement. She was hopping about with her hobbles on. I took them off for a minute to see if there was any improvement and she stands up straight and walks well without them but her leg is still a just little bit...

Advice on chick with splayed leg

Hi all, I have a little chick that's 5 days old and he/she has one splayed leg. She was naturally incubated along with 6 other chicks that are very healthy. She had a difficult hatch and is half the size of the others in her clutch. She eats and drinks well but due to her size, difficulty...

Hello from the Northern Territory, Australia!

It's a great place to live. Around 35 minutes to the centre of the city but so beautiful and private. I have guinea fowl and roosters that can crow to their little hearts content. Most of my neighbours have horses or other animals. This suburb is zoned as rural residential so the properties in...

    Missing chick

This year to keep my chicks safe from snakes I bought a portable gazebo with the insect mesh walls and waterproof roof and floor. I put my usual chook bedding over the entire floor and put mama hen in there to get comfy while she was still on eggs. When the eggs hatched I didn't have to move...
