I have always wanted chickens, but we didn't live where I could have them until 2017. In May 2018, I got my first four pullets, and it's been a wild case of chicken math ever since.
What a ride! I think we've experienced almost everything in the past few months: eggs, a surprise rooster, and learning how to successfully hatch. Also some not-so-good things: Marek's, mycoplasma, and vent gleet (because with Marek's, you can get all sorts of other conditions from immunosuppression). But I'm learning--how to give vaccines, how to have good biosecurity, how to humanely euthanize, and all sorts of things I never dreamed I'd have to learn.
But I love my chickens--each one is special. My flock is small-ish, but I like having a variety of breeds. Thank you all for the help you've given me over the past few months!
