    Flighty, athletic, submissive

The screaming cracks me up. Does yours get along with others? Mine is super friendly and gets along fine, and I don't see that she feels the need to be that social either.

Not super feathery - but there are definitely feathers on her legs.

Impressed with all those that were able to identify her possible breeds, even as a mix! I would have never guessed Sultan.

She is definitely bigger than a silkie and her eggs are the same size as my olive egger and Barnevelder. Perhaps a silkie mix though. Silkies are really popular in our area.

The comb is almost identical to my olive egger, who is an Ameraucana/BCM mix. Definitely a pea comb. Thank you very much!!

I just looked up the Sultan - there are definitely some similarities there. Especially being susceptible to bullying. I just watched a video and she moves similarly to them too. I think there is a good case to make that she is a mix, with Sultan and something that gave her the dark legs/blue...

    Flighty, athletic, submissive

Hello! I rescued this little gal as her previous flock liked to pick on her. I would love to know what breed you think she may be (or a mix is possible as well). Here are the things that might be helpful to know: She is flighty, submissive and does not trust easily She is super athletic...

New chicken, super flighty or maybe even a bit wild

You all have been so helpful so far. I am trying to integrate just one new bird (Salt) to my small flock of 4. My girls have been generally tolerant. Salt is extremely submissive and non-confrontational. They are all about a year old. After 3 weeks, I have seen her out scratching or...

Nobody told me how fun chickens are!

I'll try and get that! For now, here's baby, chicken and dog sharing an apple. (We do try not to encourage this)

Nobody told me how fun chickens are!

Thank you! It's a rescue hen about the same age. I tried to get another from her old flock, but I guess they all picked on her too much and she wasn't able to make friends. She's doing pretty well. We've done a really slow introduction to my girls and so far the pecking order banter has been...

Introducing solo hen to small flock

Thank you! I had wondered about the coop part. Good to know she might just find her own way in.

Nobody told me how fun chickens are!

    (1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? I hatched my chickens about 9 months ago. It was such a great experience! After finding new homes for 4 roosters, I was left with just 4 hens. I love having chickens and love spoiling them. It has been great fun to learn about...

Introducing solo hen to small flock

I recently was given a sweet, but shy hen to add to my small flock of 4. The single hen, Salt, has been residing in our dog kennel - a safe haven for her, while still providing ample opportunity for the chickens to check each other out. Since she has been here, I have been going out and giving...
